Frequently Asked Questions about Zip Lines
- Q. Can this zip line be used with a disc seat or harness?
- A. Yes. Our zip lines are designed to be used with either a disc seat or a harness. If using a disc seat, simply tie the rope of the disc seat around the center bar of the trolley between the two steel plates.
If using a harness, simply girth hitch the center bar of the trolley with a sewn nylon sling and hook the sling to the harness with a carabiner. Unlike similar trolleys, our zip lines only require one carabiner, instead of two. A sling can be purchased at any REI or rock climbing store for less than $5. A girth hitch is the knot used to tie two rubber bands together. For an example, click here.
- Q. What is the recommended weight limit for the zip line?
- A. The recommended weight limit for our zip lines is 300 pounds.
- Q. How long does it take for me to receive my zip line?
- A. Most orders are sent out the same business day via USPS priority mail, which has an expected delivery time of 2-3 business days. So, you should receive your zip line in no more than 3-4 business days.
- Q. Do you ship zip lines internationally.
- A. We only ship zip lines within the United States
- Q. Can I get a zip line longer than 200 feet?
- A. Our longest zip lines are 200 feet. When dealing with longer zip lines, the risk factor increases and the installation process becomes much more difficult, so we opted to make the 200 foot zip line kit our longest kit.
- Q. Is there a braking system with your zip lines?
- A. If a zip line is properly installed, it will be self braking. The weight of the rider mixed with the sag in the cable will bring the rider to a point lower than the second anchor. This essentially makes the last 20 feet or so up the cable.
- Q. At what angle should I set up my zip line?
- A. All zip lines are different and require their own unique evaluation. However, we recommend starting at a 6% slope and customizing it from there. This means that if your zip line is 100 feet long, it should drop 6 feet from one anchor to the other. DO NOT start at a steeper angle than this!
- Q. What size tree can the zip line accommodate?
- A. The zip line slings are designed to accommodate trees with a 2 foot diameter. However, we can make custom slings for trees that require a longer cable.
- Q. Do you sell the zip line trolley by itself?
- A. No, we only sell zip lines in kit form.
